Hi, I'm Dr. Anita

DACM, LAc, CLC at FLO Acupuncture

I’m a DACM, LAc, LMT, and CLC at FLO Acupuncture, and I’ve devoted the past 23+ years to caring for people through pregnancy, postpartum, and all stages of reproductive health. I am a licensed and board-certified Acupuncturist, Licensed Massage Therapist, and Certified Lactation Counselor, with specialized training in Japanese-style acupuncture. My academic background includes a Doctorate in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine from Five Branches University, as well as advanced degrees from the New York College for Wholistic Health, Education & Research and the Center for Creative Studies, College of Art and Design.

I began my acupuncture career in 2001, focusing on women’s health, and by 2013, my work naturally expanded into fertility care. As my practice grew, I was deeply moved by the stories my patients shared about their pregnancies and births—some beautifully smooth, others complicated or traumatic. I saw firsthand how much women and birthing people carry, often without enough support, and how profoundly they benefit from integrative, compassionate, hands-on care.

At that time, acupuncture was well known for its success in fertility support, but far less recognized for its powerful role during pregnancy and postpartum recovery. I wanted to help change that. I sought out leading teachers and mentors across the country and as far as New Zealand, studying approaches to pregnancy care, birth support, herbal medicine, and moxibustion. I also trained and practiced as a birth doula to better understand the full spectrum of experiences people have—from hospital births to birth centers to home settings.

Over the past two decades, I’ve practiced in a wide variety of environments, including the maternity ward at Lutheran Hospital in Brooklyn and birth centers such as Mountain Midwifery and Seasons Birth Center. I’ve also completed extensive continuing education, including a two-year sports medicine apprenticeship with Matt Callison, a leading expert in acupuncture-based orthopedic care. These experiences allow me to blend structural, hormonal, and nervous system approaches into a deeply integrative style of treatment.

Today, I specialize in prenatal and postpartum care, infertility, lactation support, and pain syndromes. I use a combination of acupuncture, herbal medicine, therapeutic massage, and stretches to provide well-rounded, individualized care. My lifelong goal is to empower women and birthing people with information, agency, and unwavering support, reminding them they have full body autonomy and the right to make informed choices at every step of their journey.

When I’m not working, I’m happiest hiking with my dog in the mountains, traveling and experiencing new cultures, and creating art.
